Background
Sophie joined the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication in January 2023. Prior to the CWSC, Sophie held administrative positions in the Faculty of Arts at UBC, working in Theatre and Film, Music, and Sociology. Originally from the UK, Sophie moved to Vancouver at the end of 2019 after a decade living and working in Dubai. She was a high school theatre teacher for many years, and she is also an author. Her debut novel is being published in early 2026.
Current Role and Responsibilities
As the Sr. Program Assistant for the CWSC, Sophie handles the day-to-day running of the Centre. This includes overseeing the scheduling of writing consultations, maintaining the website and event listings, coordinating data collection, and handling the logistics for the Centre’s workshops. She is the first point of contact for all CWSC enquiries.
