By-Request Writing Seminars

Writing Seminars are by-request sessions delivered to a department or group. Dr. Xuan Zhang and Dr. Alois Sieben welcome seminar requests from faculty, staff, and postdoctoral fellows affiliated with UBC.

We offer the following five seminars, tailored to your particular discipline and the academic level of your proposed participants:

Writing for Graduate Success: A Professional Development Series for Graduate Programs

We also offer a professional development series designed to help graduate students develop the academic writing skills needed to succeed in coursework, research, publication, and thesis writing.

The series may be delivered as part of a graduate orientation program, a professional development initiative, or a department-specific training series. A minimum of 30 student attendees is required.

CWSC Policy for Writing Seminars

• The preference is for seminars to be delivered in person.
• If the seminar is to be delivered in a classroom setting, the instructor of the class must be present.
• One month’s notice is required to book a seminar.
• Seminars can be delivered in a location of your choosing, or the CWSC can book a room in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.
• There is no charge for seminars delivered in a classroom setting with a class code. There is a fee for other seminar requests. Please complete the form below and we will reply with details.
